Congratulations to 20 Years of Alaskan Amber

Special Bottling Commemorates 20th Anniversary Of Alaskan Amber - Beer Advocate

When Alaskan Brewing Co. opened in 1986 it was the only operating brewery in Alaska and only the 67th in the nation. “When the brewery started up we all wanted it to be a success," said Vickie McMillan. “We just never imagined how successful it would become." Alaskan Brewing Co. is in the Top 10 out of 1,378 craft breweries nationwide, and it is the most award-winning craft brewery in the history of the Great American Beer Festival.

I drank a few of these during my Alaska trip this summer and the Amber is excellent. One of the workers took time to call me on my cell phone after I left an after-hours message at the brewery asking where I could find good beer in Juneau. Soon enough I was at The Hanger having several cold ones with my parents. Congrats!!

SignOnSanDiego.com > News > North County -- You can't keep a good man down

Beebe also plans to become a certified massage therapist and wants to apply for a license to sell the beer he has been brewing in his Carlsbad condominium for a few years.

"I won a blue ribbon for a stout I made and entered into the homebrewer's contest at the San Diego County Fair, and I'm encouraged" Beebe said. "I'm doing things I enjoy because I don't take my life for granted."

Chula Vista To Get Brewpub June 2007

SignOnSanDiego.com > News > Metro -- Eastlake eateries to take on fast food: Looks like a new brewpub will be going up in June 2007 in the Eastlake Design District in Chula Vista:

The brew pub is being developed by Chula Vista resident Doug Chase and his business partner, Coronado resident Jim Shirey. Both men have brewed beer in small batches at home for many years and are ready to go pro, Chase said.

This is our first venture into a brewery and a restaurant, and a love of beer is clearly a piece of it, said Chase, a mechanical engineer. It's a big milestone for us.

The Brewhouse at East Lake will offer pub fare such as burgers, along with upscale menu items like seared sea scallops, Chase said.

Chase and Shirey are in the process of establishing a microbrewing facility in west Chula Vista that will supply kegs of fresh beer to the restaurant. They also hope to offer kegs for sale.

"You can expect a range of beers, from Bonita Blond, a light golden ale, to Otay Lakes Oatmeal Stout" Chase said.
